Assemble without a Battery Box

I'm trying to assemble Rapiro without the battery box since it's been out of stock for awhile. I got a DC adaptor (9V 4A) which I know it works with another Rapiro. But it cannot power up this work in progress one. I wonder if the circuit requires a battery box to complete the circuit OR I have broken arduino board? Anyone got any experience on this?
